BIEDERMEIER CHESTS AND SERVERS D532
BIEDERMEIER CHESTS AND SERVERS D532

This chest is exemplary for the region of Mainz and the 1830s. Insiders called it often "Mainzer Tulpenkopf-moebel" (Mainz Tulip-head Furniture) because of the frieze drawer shape. Original condition including locks, brass escutcheons and feet. Various "Tulpenkopf Moebel" are illustrated in Dr. Zinnkanns dissertation including one chest which is in details identical to the above one.
Germany, circa 1830.
