A really unique Biedermeier roll top desk veneered with cherry wood on pine wood.
Ebonized trim, inlaid with ebony.
Two large drawers, the upper one with fall front opens-up to the pull-out writing surface with fitted interior of 4 drawers and 2 niches.
The desk with canted corners is topped with bookends and raised on clismos type legs with a shelf as stretcher.
Original hinges, brass pulls, lock. Functional, usable condition.
Veneered/finished on all sides for free standing.

Only one second comparable desk I came across in 46 years (as illustrated on page 92 Th. Behme "Schlichte Deutsche Wohnmoebel" (Plain German Livingroom Furniture), Munich 1928, which I owned and sold 1987 in my N. Y. gallery.
